Bio
Music has been part of Barbara Hickey’s story from the very beginning. Some of her fondest memories are sitting on her grandparents’ living room floor, listening to her grandfather play guitar and sing.
Her cousin introduced her to the world of rock bands like Rush, Boston, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Pink Floyd. Those influences run deep in her music, blending classic rock energy with a touch of country soul.
Her journey as a guitarist began early, sneaking time with her brother’s guitar as a child and later finding her own voice through years of playing with bands across Southeast Texas. From early projects in the 90s to forming The Fanatics in 2012, those experiences eventually shaped what would become The Daybreakers in 2023. Along the way, Barbara learned the art of a high-energy live show and the value of musical mentorship, lessons that still drive her performances today.
Barbara’s debut album What I Am (2015) was her first chance to share that voice with the world. Her latest release, Peace of Mind (2022), tells a new chapter, a reflection of her rededication to her Christian faith, staying true to her rock roots while opening the door to fresh inspiration.
Now preparing to return to the studio in 2026 for her third album, Barbara brings The Daybreakers with her this time, continuing to evolve her sound while staying true to the roots that shaped her.
These days, Barbara brings her music to life onstage with The Daybreakers, a band that matches her passion and energy, making every show a powerful, unforgettable experience.
At heart, Barbara’s music is about connection, faith, family, and the power of a song to carry us through.
